Google Workspace is emerging with the newest updates that could potentially increase the user experience. This Latest update from the Google Workspace team provides important information about new features and improvements for Google Workspace customers.
Update 1. Use Google Assistant on more devices
You can now use Google Assistant with Smart Displays and Speakers, such as the Nest Hub Max. It was initially announced that access to Google Workspace services from Google Assistant is generally available on users’ personal devices who have purchased a professional email address.
Google Workspace Admins will need to enable Search and Assistant for these devices in order to ensure users can access Google Workspace data through Assistant in business email . If Admins allow for the home devices, they can also specify if the device will require Voice Match or Face Match to authenticate.

For Admins of Google’s business email this feature will be OFF by default and can be enabled at the domain, OU, or group level.
To use the Google Assistant, you’ll need a device with:
- Android 5.0+ with at least 1.0GB of available memory
- Android 6.0+ with at least 1.5GB of available memory
- Google app 6.13 or higher
- Google Play services
- 720p or higher screen resolution
- Device’s language set to a language listed above

How to access these features
Let users’ Assistants access Google Workspace –As an administrator for an organization, you control whether people in your organization can access services such as Google Calendar, Meet, and Gmail, using the Google Assistant in Google’s Business email. Users can also set up multiple accounts at once on their Assistant devices.
Google Workspace Admin Help: Turn Search and Assistant on or off –With visitor sharing, your users can invite non-Google users to collaborate on files as visitors and use a PIN to verify their identity in Google business email services. You can see who has access to your organization’s files and folders if you allow visitor sharing.

Update 2. Replace your background in Google Meet, now on iOS
Google Meet has introduced the availability of changing background in iOS device for google professional business email users. You can now blur or replace your background with an image in Google Meet on iOS. You can choose from Google’s hand-picked images, which include office spaces, landscapes, and abstract backgrounds, or use your own image.

This feature is controllable with an admin setting
- From the Admin console Home page, go to Apps Google Workspace Google Meet.
- Click Meet video settings.
- To apply the setting to everyone, leave the top organizational unit selected. Otherwise, select a child organizational unit or a configuration group.
- In Backgrounds, choose a setting:
- ON—People can replace their backgrounds with images.
- Let users select custom images—People can choose their own images in addition to preconfigured images.
- OFF—People can’t replace their backgrounds with images.
The meeting organizer’s background settings apply to all meeting participants. For example, if the setting is off for the organizer, participants can’t change their backgrounds even if the setting is on for their accounts. This setting doesn’t impact background blur availability in Business email provided by Google.
Click Save. If you configured an organizational unit or group, you might be able to Inherit or Override a parent organizational unit, or Unset a group.
Update 3. Google Tasks now available in Google Workspace Essentials and Enterprise Essentials
Google has made Google Tasks available to Google Workspace Essentials and Enterprise Essentials customers, included at no additional cost. Google Tasks available in your google business email helps you keep track of your daily tasks, organize multiple lists, and set important due dates. It has mobile and web applications, and is integrated with Google Calendar and the quick access side panel. By adding Tasks to Essentials, we hope more users can quickly manage their tasks, wherever they’re working.
Tasks will be available by default to all users of business email. about turning services on or off for your users. If any of your team members doesn’t want their previously created Tasks to be managed, you might want to enable Takeout for your organization so that users can export those tasks and then delete them.
Update 4. Enhanced desktop security for Windows is now available for Google Workspace Business Plus customers
Google Workspace Business Plus which is an advanced business email provided by google can now manage and secure Windows devices through the Admin console, just as you do for Android, iOS, Chrome, and Jamboard devices.
Now, Business Plus Admins can:
1. Set Windows policies in the admin console which will ensure that all Windows 10 devices used to access Workspace are updated, secure, and within compliance of organizational policies.
2. Perform admin actions, such as wiping a device and pushing device configuration updates, to Windows 10 devices from the cloud without connecting to corp network
3. Manage Windows 10 devices through the G Suite Admin console.
4. Google business email is enabling enhanced desktop security for Windows with a new beta. This will allow you to manage and secure Windows 10 devices through the Admin console, just as you do for Android, iOS, Chrome, and Jamboard devices today.
5. It will also enable SSO so users can more easily access G Suite and other SSO-enabled applications on Windows 10 devices.
